You Won’t Believe What This Man Did To Save His Island
Jadav Penyang is a man who isn’t afraid to put everything into a place he loves. Since 1979 he has been planting trees on Majuli Island in India to fight erosion. More and more islands are sinking into the ocean due to changing weather patterns and rising sea levels. His forest has grown to a size larger than Central Park and works to keep the land together and stable. The forest is so big now that it has even attracted a herd of 100 elephants.
To learn more about his incredible story, watch the short documentary above. Jaday was awarded with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India. It just goes to show that sometimes one person can make a world of difference.
