Here&#8217;s a list of 10 of the cutest animal species that we can hopefully bring back from the edge of extinction.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Swift Fox<\/strong>\n<figure style=\"width: 499px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/assets.worldwildlife.org\/photos\/7391\/images\/carousel_small\/HargreavesSwfFoxPupH2383.jpg?1409160351\" width=\"499\" height=\"374\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Credit:\u00a0World Wildlife Fund<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>Vulpes Velox<\/em> roams\u00a0the grass prairies of Southern Canada; however environmental destruction has forced their population down significantly since the early 1900&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>Currently a large amount of support has manifested to hopefully bring back this beautiful predator.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sumatran Tiger<\/strong>\n<figure style=\"width: 501px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/i4.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article275797.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615\/image-5-for-tiger-cubs-gallery-636157640.jpg\" width=\"501\" height=\"333\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Credit: Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>Panthera tigris sumatrae\u00a0<\/em>rules its native forests on the island nation of Sumatra. Due to rampant deforestation and poaching, these big cats have dwindled down to a population of only 400. Now the Sumatran Tiger holds the precarious title of Indonesia&#8217;s last tiger species.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Saola<\/strong>\n<figure style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/feminte.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/13.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Credit: World Wildlife Fund<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em><em>Pseudoryx nghetinhensis<\/em><\/em>, nicknamed the &#8220;Asian Unicorn&#8221; was first\u00a0seen in the May of 1992. Its discovery is noted as\u00a0the first new large mammal to be unearthed in over 50 years.<br \/>\nDue to low populations and the difficulty in traversing its home in the forests of Vietnam, the Saola remains to this day one of the most difficult to find animals in the world.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Black-footed Ferret<\/strong>\n<figure style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.animalspot.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Black-Footed-Ferret-Pictures.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Credit: Animal Spot<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><i>Mustela nigripes\u00a0<\/i>is a fascinating species\u00a0because it has one of the most specific diets in the animal world. These little guys munch almost exclusively on prairie dogs, which has given them the appropriate nickname of &#8220;Prairie Dog Hunter&#8221;. Unfortunately,\u00a0Black-footed Ferrets get sick easily, so human-brought diseases\u00a0have whittled down their numbers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pangolin<\/strong>\n<figure style=\"width: 501px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.awf.org\/sites\/default\/files\/media\/gallery\/wildlife\/Pangolin\/Pangolin_Daryl_and_Sharna_Balfour.jpg?itok=mTV-3KwI\" width=\"501\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Credit: African Wildlife Foundation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Manis<\/em> genus hosts the three different species of Pangolin. This group of African critters is certainly one of the strangest on this list. Their strong scaled armor provides great defense from predators, but not the threat of environment loss.<br \/>\nThese small insectivores are also considered to have healing properties, so poaching has also taken its toll on these adorable animals.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dugong<\/strong>\n<figure style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/thecutest.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Dugong-%E2%80%93-The-unique-sea-cow-3.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Credit: National Geographic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>Dugong Dugon<\/em> looks like a slightly derpier version of a manatee, but these gentle sea cows have an endearing charm. Floating along the bottom of the Pacific and Indian oceans, dugongs munch pleasantly on sea grasses.\u00a0Sadly, they are very susceptible to water pollution which inhibits sea grass growth. Rapid industrialization on the coasts has robbed them of much of their feeding grounds.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mountain Gorilla<\/strong>\n<figure style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.animalfactguide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/mountaingorilla2.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Photo Credit: National Geographic<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>Gorilla beringei beringei\u00a0<\/em>inhabits the high mountains of the Congo Basin, where its dense fur fights against sub-freezing temperatures. Though these beloved apes have made a miraculous return in the past several decades, a resurgence of poaching has put them in danger of losing their recovery&#8217;s momentum.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vaquita Porpoise<\/strong>\n<figure style=\"width: 501px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/images.natureworldnews.com\/data\/images\/full\/19360\/vaquita.png?w=600\" width=\"501\" height=\"315\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Credit: GreenPeace Mexico<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>Phocoena sinus\u00a0<\/em>is the rarest known marine mammal with a population of under 100. Their habitat in the Gulf of California has grown increasingly dangerous as illegal fishing tactics put them at risk of accidentally becoming trapped in nets. With such a low population, American and Mexican conservationists have been working together to bring them back and only time will tell if they are successful.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Asian Elephant<\/strong>\n<figure style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/assets.worldwildlife.org\/photos\/1732\/images\/hero_small\/Asian_Elephant_8.13.2012_Hero_And_Circle_HI_247511.jpg?1345551842\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Credit: World Wildlife Fund<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>Elephas Maximus<\/em> remains one of the most loved animal species on Earth due to their gentle and empathetic\u00a0nature. Though their populations number in the tens of thousands, the constant threat of ivory poaching and slash-and-burn deforestation means that their future is by no means secure.
